Solutions for Common Android Install Issues
If Android blocks installation or greys out SMS permissions, follow these simple steps:
1. App Blocked by Play Protect
"App blocked to protect your device"- Open Google Play Store on your phone.
- Tap your Profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Select Play Protect.
- Tap the Settings Cog (⚙️) in top-right.
- Turn OFF: "Scan apps with Play Protect".
- Return to your Downloads folder and tap the app to install!
💡 You can turn Play Protect scan back ON anytime after installation completes.
2. SMS Access Denied / "Restricted Setting"
Android 13, 14 & 15 greyed out permission- On your phone home screen, long-press the AutoGreet icon and tap App Info (ⓘ) (or Settings ➔ Apps ➔ AutoGreet).
- In the top-right corner, tap the 3 dots (⋮).
- Select "Allow restricted settings".
- Confirm with your phone Fingerprint, PIN, or Pattern.
- Now tap Permissions ➔ tap SMS and Phone ➔ select "Allow".
✅ AutoGreet will now detect calls and send SMS auto-replies seamlessly!
3. Redmi / Xiaomi / POCO (MIUI & HyperOS) Background Fix
Service stops when closing app or clearing recent tasksOpen phone Settings ➔ Apps ➔ Permissions ➔ Autostart (or Background autostart) ➔ Find AutoGreet and turn toggle ON. Tap AutoGreet in the list and enable "Allow background autostart".
Long-press AutoGreet on your home screen ➔ Tap App Info (ⓘ) ➔ Scroll down and tap Battery saver ➔ Switch from MIUI Battery Saver to "No restrictions".
In the same App Info (ⓘ) page, tap Other permissions. Ensure these are set to Always allow (Green checkmark): Start in background, Display pop-up windows in background, and Show on Lock screen.
In App Info (ⓘ) ➔ tap App permissions. Make sure all are set to Allowed: Phone / Phone state, Call logs, SMS, Contacts, and Notifications.
Open AutoGreet once ➔ Open your phone's Recent Apps screen (swipe up & hold, or square button) ➔ Long-press on the AutoGreet card ➔ Tap the Padlock icon (🔒) so it remains locked in memory.
Swipe away AutoGreet from recent apps. Make or receive a test call and hang up. The automated SMS greeting with your digital catalog link will trigger smoothly within 2 seconds!
💡 These steps also apply to Vivo (FuntouchOS), Oppo (ColorOS), Realme (Realme UI), OnePlus (OxygenOS), and iQOO devices that require Autostart and Battery Unrestricted settings.
